Grey bin (paper, card and cardboard)
Find out what can and cannot go in your grey bin.
Your grey bin will be collected every four weeks as per your bin collection calendar. Bins should be placed out the night before collection day, however in some town centre areas bins may require to be placed out on the day of collection.
We will only service a maximum of 2 recycling bins per household per collection.

Collections will take place between 1.45pm - 10.00pm (Mon-Thur), 1.15pm - 9.00pm (Fri). If your bin was not collected please report a missed bin collection.
What goes in my grey bin?
DO put in your grey bin
- Paper:
- Brochures
- Catalogues
- Directories
- Envelopes (including window envelopes)
- Leaflets
- Letters
- Magazines
- Newspapers
- Office paper
- Card and cardboard:
- Cardboard packaging
- Cereal boxes
- Egg boxes
- Greeting cards
- Kitchen/Toilet roll tubes
- Sleeves from ready meals
DO NOT put in your grey bin (alternative option)
- Paper:
- Foil/glitter wrapping paper (Non-recyclable bin)
- Hardback books (reuse should be encouraged)
- Laminated paper (non-recyclable bin)
- Padded envelopes (non-recyclable bin)
- Plastic bags and wrappers (non-recyclable bin)
- Tissues/napkins (heavily soiled can go in food container
- Wet paper (Home composted or non-recyclable bin)
- Card and cardboard:
- Drinks and food cartons (placed in metals and plastics container for recycling)
- Wet card (non-recyclable bin)
- Foil/glitter greetings cards (non-recyclable bin)
- Stacked Crisp Tubes (non-recyclable bin)
Do not place any additional bags next to your grey recycling bin. You can take any excess recyclates to your local recycling centres or points.
You can now be fined up to £1,000 for deliberately contaminating your recycling containers.
Please note that only one grey bin per household will be emptied.
