South Ayrshire success at tenant awards
South Ayrshire has been recognised at the recent Tenant Participatory Advice Service (TPAS), National Good Practice Awards.
Tenant Participation in South Ayrshire was nominated across four categories and achieved awards in three of these.
The 'Alan Ferguson Award for Tenant/Resident Champion' went to Frances Carson. Frances is a Council tenant living in Troon and was recognised by the judging panel as a true inspiration. Over the last 12 months she has gone out of her way to assist other tenants, she has helped improve housing and the performance of landlords.
Muirhead Tenants and Residents Association just missed out on top spot in the 'Tenant Participation Champion Group' category. As runner-up, the voluntary group can be proud of all the work they did to support local people during the pandemic. They have continued this vital role and gone on to become a positive force for change in their community.
The Council's Tenant Participation team were also recognised. They were runner-up in the 'Best Practice in Involving All' category. The team were commended for their efforts to reach out to people struggling to access services.Thanks to their commitment, more of our tenants feel involved and connected.
Councillor Martin Kilbride, Buildings, Housing and Environment Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council said: "Congratulations to Frances Carson for winning her award, it highlights all the selfless work she undertakes to help others. Well, done also to Muirhead Tenants and Residents Association, they have pulled their local community together and continue to change lives for the better. I'm delighted that our Tenant Participation team were also recognised, they are an inspiration, and I am sure they will keep up the good work."
