Kyle Academy Pupils Host YPI Event
Two pupils from Kyle Academy were chosen to lead and host this year's Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) National Event at Perth Concert Hall on Tuesday 15 June.
Julie Dunn and Murray Graham entertained over 800 pupils, teachers, and special guests from across Scotland.
YPI grants each school involved with a donation to give to a charity championed by the selected year group of students. The experience helps school pupils build confidence and skills and learn about social issues while working as a team to research their chosen charity.
Five additional pupils from Kyle Academy were also asked to attend the event as special guests due to the high quality of their presentations.
Prior to the event, the two hosts were invited along to STV studios to meet presenters Kelly-Ann Woodland and Sean Batty, who gave them some valuable tips on presenting and congratulated them on their excellent work with YPI.
Councillor Stephen Ferry, Education Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council said: "It's great to see schools in South Ayrshire getting involved in programmes like YPI that make a difference, as well as teaching pupils valuable life skills.
"Well done to Julie and Murray for doing a great job hosting the event, and to all the pupils involved for their contributions. They were exceptional representatives for their school and South Ayrshire!"
