Community benefits
Find out about community benefits.
Suppliers who win any major contract must commit to supporting local causes through community enhancement, training and employment opportunities, work placements, school curriculum support and business supply chain development.
Any community group can add their cause to our community benefits wish list. Contractors will be directed to the wish list when preparing their contract bid and upon contract award.
To improve standards of sustainable procurement we have established a process of collecting and recording Community Benefits and Sustainable Methods throughout the contract.
Community benefits process
As part of our Community Benefits Process (Word doc) [608KB] , suppliers are required to provide an update on contractual and voluntary Community Benefits delivered to South Ayrshire Council.

Community benefit and sustainability update
To improve standards of sustainable procurement we have established a process of collecting and recording Community Benefits and Sustainable Methods throughout the contract.
On a bi-annual basis, all suppliers will be requested to provide an update to what has been delivered throughout the contract lifetime to date. This will be in the form of updating a spreadsheet of what has been delivered against what was pledged in the tender process.
Please note that the information provided is shared publicly and also will be shared with key members of South Ayrshire Council (e.g. Elected Members and Senior Management).
The Community Benefit update is divided into three sections:
- Section A: Community Benefits delivered within South Ayrshire
- Section B: Community Benefits delivered out with South Ayrshire
- Section C: Sustainable Methods introduced or delivered by the supplier
You will be required to provide a summary on the three sections in relation to your contract with South Ayrshire Council. The update will be sent out on a bi-annual basis from the Contract and Supplier Management team who can be contacted by emailing csm@south-ayrshire.gov.uk.
The Community Benefit update will be used to measure performance against the relevant key performance indicators on the balanced scorecards. A copy of the Standard Key Performance Indicators can be found within the Supplier Briefing Pack or can be downloaded here.
