What is HARP

Health Leaflet (PDF) [579KB]

Working in conjunction with NHS colleagues, HARP is exercise classes and activities to assist people with heart, lung, cancer, stroke or diabetic medical history to improve or maintain their health through regular physical activity.

How do I become involved in the classes?

You can be referred to HARP by a health professional e.g. GP, practice nurse, cardiac / pulmonary physiotherapist, cancer nurse specialist, stroke specialist nurse, or one of the NHS HARP team .  For people with heart, stroke or complex medical history an exercise referral form can be completed by a health professional and sent to the Health Team. For people with pulmonary condition, cancer or diabetes an activity voucher can be completed by a health professional or you can self-refer by contacting the telephone number below.

Once your referral form is received by South Ayrshire Council's Health Team one of the team will call you to arrange an appointment for you to come and have an assessment prior to joining the class.

How much does it cost to join HARP?

Classes are £3.00 per attendance.
