The phone line and response to ASP remains a high priority and contact details remain the same. We intend ensuring that we continue to provide a robust service to safeguard and support those who require Adult Support and Protection intervention during this difficult time. Child Protection 

South Ayrshire Council will continue to respond to any new child protection concerns raised in relation to a child or young person. Although the council buildings are currently closed, social work teams continue to operate and will respond to calls from the public.

If you have any concerns about the care or wellbeing of a child or young person you can call the Initial Response Team on 01292  267675. Be assured this phone number is staffed as normal and your call will be answered. Child Protection investigations will continue based on the required risk assessment. This includes home visits if they are deemed necessary.

Should you have a concern about a child or young person out with normal office hours, The Ayrshire Wide Social Work Out of Hours Response Service, who are available in the evening or at weekends, can be contacted on 0800 328 7758.

Domestic Abuse

Staying at home at this time will be difficult for people experiencing domestic abuse. Support is available. Scotland's Domestic Abuse and Forced Marriage 24hr Helpline number is 0800 027 1234. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger do not hesitate to call 999. If you can't speak dial 999 and then 55.

South Ayrshire Women's Aid is still providing support during this time and can be contacted on 01292 266482 or support@sawamail.org.uk. For further information, please visit their website.

Abused Men in Scotland (AMIS) is a registered Scottish charity that supports men who are experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse. Lockdown is an especially difficult situation for anyone in an abusive relationship.

AMIS provides: 

• Free and confidential helpline - 0808 800 0024(9 am to 4 pm, weekdays)
• High-quality, ongoing support to any man in Scotland that is in an abusive relationship
• Email support - support@amis.org.uk This is confidential and preferable for many who cannot call AMIS, including those with hearing impairments.

AMIS work with any man who lives in Scotland and is over 16 years old, inclusive of transgender and non-heterosexual men. Anyone concerned about a man can also use AMIS services to get information and advice.
