South Ayrshire Council supports Young Persons Guarantee
South Ayrshire Council is backing the Young Person's Guarantee as part of our commitment to close the gap for young people in South Ayrshire.
In connection with the Scottish Government's 'No One Left Behind' model, the Young Person's Guarantee aims to give all young people, aged 16-24 in Scotland, the chance to succeed through the opportunity of a job; an apprenticeship; education; training or volunteering within two years.
Since the Young Person's Guarantee was introduced in November last year, our Employability and Skills team have supported a number of young people to progress to further education, engage in training opportunities, or secure employment by encouraging local businesses to recruit young people from South Ayrshire through our Employer Recruitment Incentive (ERI).
Councillor William Grant, South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Children and Young People said: "I'm delighted that we're supporting the Young Person's Guarantee. This programme is crucial as many young people face reduced job opportunities due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We're committed to helping young people through these difficult times by developing opportunities and providing support that works for them, while also supporting employers to build their future workforce."
