What is the activity for health scheme?
Working in conjunction with NHS colleagues, the scheme assists people to become more active and promotes the benefits of an active lifestyle.

Who is the scheme aimed at?
If you have health issues that could be improved through regular physical activity, such as:
- Sedentary lifestyle (inactive)
- Obese/overweight
- Hypertension (high blood pressure)
- Musculo/skeletal disorders (e.g. arthritis, osteoporosis, back pain)
- Heart conditions
- Lung conditions
- Stroke / TIA (must be ambulant)
- Cancer
- Anxiety/depression/stress/low self esteem
- Diabetes
What happens when I join the scheme?
A member of the Health Development Team will arrange an appointment for you to come and have a relaxed, informal chat about your activity levels and life style.
We will also have a chat about what type of activities might be suitable for you e.g. Specialised Classes, Aquatrim, Keep Fit for Beginners, Pilates, Swimming, Gentle Movement, Walking, home based exercise or one of our many other activities.
We will keep in contact with you throughout your membership to provide you with assistance, advice and support.
How do I become involved in the scheme?
Contact your local health professional - GP, Practice Nurse, Physiotherapist, Cardiac Nurse, Dietician, Occupational Health Nurse, Health Visitor, Nurse Specialist, Community Pharmacist (local chemist) or Mental Health Team and ask about the scheme.

How much does it cost to join the scheme?
Each activity is £3.00 per attendance for the first 12 months, normal rates apply following this period
